As women living with HIV and many coming from the ‘generic’ PLHIV networks and some of them having had regional and international exposure, realized that there was need to form a Positive Women’s Organization that would really champion the rights of women living with HIV.  Thus, COZWHA+ was formed and finally given organizational status through a certificate of registration from the office of the Registrar of Societies with a recommendation letter from the Lusaka District Health Management Director.
